Professor Cheng, Howard University

In 2023, Professor Cheng joined the faculty at Howard University, teaching applied voice to students in the B.F.A. Musical Theatre program.

That same year, the freshman class petitioned for her to also teach in the classroom.

The following academic year, Professor Cheng expanded her responsibilities to include Introduction to Music Theory and Ear-Training/Sight-Singing II, in addition to maintaining her applied voice studio.

After taking leave to welcome her son, Cameron, Professor Cheng returned as a full-time Lecturer and Co-Coordinator of the Musical Theatre Program. Alongside her applied voice studio, she taught Aural Skills I and II, helping to shape the program's musicianship curriculum.

In the Spring of 2026, Professor Cheng announced that she would be leaving Howard University to relocate with her family to North Carolina to be closer to extended family.
