Marianne Cheng helps singers and musicians find their voice.
For over 15 years, she's taught students of every age, from kids just starting piano to adults chasing a lifelong dream of performing. In 2026, she capped off her teaching run at Howard University, co-leading the Musical Theatre Program. At Opal Music Studio in Arlington Virginia, she created and directed a community choir that ran for 16 seasons. Her roots as a choir director run deep: she's led ensembles for PBS specials with the American Pops Orchestra, founded the Brooklyn chapter of Rock Voices, and directed the UNC Loreleis, an award-winning collegiate a cappella group. When she's not teaching, you'll find her on stage or behind the mic — as a performer, arranger, and recording artist. She holds a Masters of Arts in Teaching and Bachelor’s of Music from UNC Chapel Hill, and believes every student has their own path to growth and confidence as an artist.
